Grizzly Hair is a line of grooming products meant to help tame beastly hair, without all the macho hangups.

Ask: Establish a beauty brand identity targeting men and apply to packaging, tags, and labels, and other print materials.

 

Design process

 

Development

Conducting competitor design audit of brand logos, and overall tone in market. Aimed to appeal to men who want a rugged look, but keeping it elevated. Cognizant of frustration-free packaging with easily slip-lids, while wanting the package experience to remain visually interesting. Imagery was sourced to match brand tone, along with developing patterns and brand identity that appeared vintage, yet modern.

Execution

The final pieces were a set of product labels, package designs and brand identity that were easy to use and fit well to the product. All face icons were originally designed to look unique, demonstrating multiple variations on “masculinity”—alluding to hip-masculine aesthetics. The brand itsenlf was named as a play on the hairy animal and the rough look of some men.
